Since I've been posting more recently in fandom stuff than I usually do, I thought I'd put a little sticky note up to explain my journal. This is a "me and my friends" journal, rather than a strictly fandom journal. It was originally made to keep up and comment on my friends, and then I got sucked in bit by bit into all the other things about LJ. A lot of my friends have gone 'Friends Only' in their journals for friends things and leave fandom things unlocked... but so far, I haven't decided to go that route. (Which is not to say there aren't a lot of things locked! Some things aren't for the world ^^) I'm totally open to friending and friends (yay, friends! ^^), however if you're here for fandom... er, be aware there's a LOT of other things in here too. ;D
If you're just here for the fandom, I use tags for the fic and other stuff, so for the current active fandom, Smallville, it would be http://tallihensia.livejournal.com/t ag/sv-fic Story Index under the cut.

Other than fandom prezzies (yay!!!!), this weekend has mostly been about fish! ^^ Wendy is down visiting from Portland, and gave an awesome talk on Betta colors at the San Francisco Aquarium Society, and I sold/donated a bunch of fish and stuff for the auction, and came back home with even more. o.o I totally replaced all the fish in the work tank, and now have orange platys, black neons, and honey gorumis in there (a little more colorful!), and I've got some cool yellow killies (both male so not a breeding pair, but that's just fine with me ;p), a pair of half-beaks, and a bunch more bettas. THEN we went out to visit Ocean Aquarium in San Francisco, and hey, it's Justin's... I just *can't* go in there without getting cool fish. I came out with three types of mini-rasboras and set up a new tank for them and put it in my bedroom. Mostly, they're all still hiding. Should be cool when they start emerging. In betta-land, my latest set of fry have started free-swimming so I took daddy out (and boy, he did *not* want to leave them! - he's a good daddy!), and have got the requisite pile of baby live foods hatching/growing in my kitchen, making it look a bit like a mad scientist world. ;p I'm sorely tempted to start the next spawn now, but I know from experience that I really should stagger them a bit more! They may look cute and tiny now, but once they start growing and I have to start jarring them... I'm going to *want* that time between spawns! :) Fiiiiiiissssssh!
Happy day!
I have not one, but TWO Sweet Charity presents! ^_____^ And they're both awesome. ;D
One is the
beet Clex art-manip I was mentioning a couple days ago. She has it up on her art journal along with a small story to accompany it. It's beautiful and heart-wrenching at the same time. Lovely doomed boys! Just eat them up. :)
And the other is a much lighter SGA fun-fic from
bitter_crimson. It's up on hir journal as the "Silly Sappy Drunken Strip Durak" fic - which pretty much describes it ^_______^ It's adorable! And there's nekkidness! And an awesome Teyla! And McShep which is just awwwww-some. ;D

I don't even have to say how amused I am about this, do I? ;D

And in the midst of all the cat drama and also some fish drama that I haven't been bothering to tell anybody about (it's boring, but producing a *ton* of emails), I almost missed an email in my inbox from
beet - she finished my Sweet Charity project!!! ^______^
It is an absolutely *brilliant* Clex manip with a really poignant tale to go along with it. She'll be posting it up in her art journal soon (hopefully), and I'll point you all to it when she does, but I just HAD to squee about it now. :) :) I have yummy Clex photos! ^__^ {bounces around happily}
Maybe instead of making more documents for the cat records, I'll go back to writing my fic tonight. I haven't touched it... well, since Texas, actually. o.o It needs to be finished!

The technology firm AgriHouse has figured out a way to let plants send text messages when they need more water, IEEE Spectrum reports. The tiny sensors clip onto plant leaves and calculate the plants moisture. Then, when the plant gets too dry, the sensors a text the farmers. I envision it probably saying something like this:
OMG, I needs drink, pls.
Considering the roughly 129 billion liters of water consumed every day by commercial agriculture in the United States, AgriHouse believes the sensors could make a dramatic difference in agricultural water consumption.

Fish convention is over, yay - it ended up being a lot more fun than I thought, so I'm pretty happy, though I also only got 3-4 hours of sleep a night from one thing or another, so I was pretty wiped!
Got into work today and walked into some work drama. Oh joy. o.o
Checked my voice mail and got *more* drama... Fosterlings. The previous owner of the tonks called again saying they were ready to move into a house and the kids really wanted them and to let him know what had happened... I called him back, said they were adopted back in January to a family that loves them and it might be better for his kids to have new cats because these two wouldn't have been the same ones they had known. He said okay and hung up. Several hours later I get a call from the head of our cat group. Apparently when he got home, he then called the head of our group and yelled up a storm for his cats having been adopted out without his permission. According to *him*, he's been contactable by phone this whole time. (Bullshit.) Gah. At least *we* have an email record up the kazoo about how often he fell out of contact, and that we'd discussed the fact that he had given the verbal consent. But it's going to be a headache, I just know it.

Woo Hoo! We passed both our visuals and writtens and there are now four new certified International Betta Judges! Our visual Judges (the judges who were judging us ^^) were also really impressed with us and told us so. ;D So yay! Now we get to do more work at fish conventions. (lol)

Sorry about the lack of conversation - I know I owe people some replies! I thought I had enough time to finish up everything I'd started and then it just sort of swept in and went, "woah! no more time!" I'm up to my eyeballs at work and home trying to make sure everything is as ready as it can be for me to disappear for a week. My brother will be house-sitting and taking care of the cats, but he doesn't really want to do much the fish, so I'm also ack'ing about them (I have one new spawn that I have to make sure can survive!). But it's more the trip that I'm stressing out about.

Damn my world-building tendencies. Another three pages just got added on for exploring the world they ended up in. Okay, it's interesting, but it's not the point! This. This is why I can't write short stories. {rolls eyes at self}
edit - annnnd... I just edited it all out again. ;p My pile of deleted scenes is starting to add up.

The separate post for GBET icons, since, well, not work safe. ;p (SERIOUSLY - if you don't want to see nekkid man parts with other nekkid man parts, don't click on the lj cut o.o)

So between
tinnny and
casett and more fandom interest in general, I joined a few icon communities and have been iconning. (And now that I'm more comfortable with iconning again, I really really REALLY should finish my Sweet Charity project set. o.o This weekend, for sure!)

Earlier this month, Michael Rosenbaum twitted that he saw Tom Welling when they both were at a Lakers game. And over at Devoted to Tom Welling, a *very* devoted fan went through the available Lakers clips online and FOUND THE MOMENT. And there was Man-Hugging involved! And
tasabian reposted it for us to see! And
christina_kat posted caps of it! ^__^ Everything is small and blurry because the person with the camera was recording the *game* and not even noticing that there was a great dramatic MOMENT happening in the background (on the other side of the court!), but it was still caught on film! I have watched it so many times now, I can't believe this was Real Life and not a Smallville special fan-movie made for us. (And I also feel a bit guilty and a bit stalkery, but, um, HUGGING! They're so cute! How can I resist?)

I've been eating too many carrots, I think. The left TMJ joint has flared up again and jaw opening is painful. Even though I specifically buy the "baby" carrots to cut back on the 'crunch' level. Or I could just be clenching my teeth at work. Ah well, time for the splint again, and better lay off the carrots for awhile.

So at the last Sweet Charity, I won the mad awesome writing skills of
hils, and I asked for a Smallville CLex story and gave prompts.
hils has finished the story and posted it, and it's a pretty darn awesome story!!! ^____^ She took the prompt, ran with it, and and result is utterly delightful. We've got a mad scientist Lex, a heroic Superman, and a very confused robot in the mix. And it all ends happily. :)
I very much love it! So go forth and read and enjoy as well. ^__^

If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

My car took the entire day to get fixed (they found a few other things while doing the battery) and cost me $500 that I *really* wanted for other stuff. {sulks} But at least it's done now. As a side note, though - I'm death on cars. ;p When my brother dropped me off so I could pick up my car... then *his* car wouldn't start! I had to give him a jump from my brand-new batteried car. Um, oops. And I haven't worn a skirt for the rest of this week so I won't jinx myself again.
Since the Spring Fling fic was finished, I've been trying to finish up the other one I was in the middle of, but it's *growing*. My original quick little PWP is currently at 33 pages and only about 2/3rd of the way done. Why, why, WHY do my stories want plot???? o.O
So in frustration, I wrote up a bit for the
old_school_clex comment fic meme. It got a bit out of hand too, but I managed to stop it enough to fit only 2 comments. http://community.livejournal.com/old_sc hool_clex/70703.html?thread=297519#t2975 19
Though there's a sequel bumping around in my head too. ;p But it'll have to wait because I just got my Sweet Charity fic from
hils!!! ^___^ EVERYTHING is going to wait for that now! :) {runs off to read}

So this morning, I get up and say, "hey, let's do something *fun* for work," and actually dress in a *skirt* and boots and a nice shirt/vest combo. Though I can't find my belts because they haven't been unpacked yet. But still, the co-workers will stare (I'm usually in jeans ;p).
And then I go out to the car... 'ratttttattaaattaat'. ... ... Try again. Same result. Oh, JOY. Call AAA. Email work. Call new local dealer/service shop. AAA gets here, jumpstarts, take car in, yep, battery. And as long as I'm there, might as well get the 5k and the fuel injector flushed (it needed it). So I'm back at home, twittling my thumbs, trying to decide if it's going to be worth it to try and go back into work by the time the car gets done (~3 hours), or how much I can work online or not now. Might as well at least try the online, though I'm also horribly distracted.
At the least, I can probably change clothes back to sweatpants. Not much point in the skirt now. (And if I *do* make it into work in the afternoon, late, wearing a skirt... uh, they're going to have other thoughts on what I was doing in the morning. No, not an interview, really. o.o)

Okay, I'm a bit late compared to the rest of my flist on this, but 1) I'm up to my eyeballs at work, and 2) it took me awhile to get all three computers. ;p
1. If you want to participate, please post this meme and your current wallpaper at your journal.
2. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper.
3. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on.
